What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP0380 signals a fault in glow plug or heater circuit A on a diesel engine. Glow plugs heat the combustion chambers to make cold starting easier. The engine control module or glow plug control unit has detected an open circuit, a short or abnormal current draw.
Symptoms
- Glow plug or check engine light on or flashing.
- Hard starting in cold weather.
- White smoke on start up.
- Rough running when cold.
Possible causes
- One or more failed glow plugs.
- Faulty glow plug control unit or relay.
- Damaged glow plug wiring or connector.
- Blown fuse.
- Engine control module fault, which is rare.
