P0325
PPowertrainKnock Sensor 1 Circuit Fault (Bank 1)
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP0325 reports a fault in the circuit of knock sensor 1, bank 1 or single sensor. This sensor picks up the vibrations typical of abnormal combustion. Without its signal, the control module retards ignition as a precaution, which reduces performance and increases fuel consumption.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- Loss of power.
- Higher fuel consumption.
- Possible audible pinging under acceleration.
Possible causes
- Corroded or unplugged knock sensor connector.
- Open or shorted wiring.
- Faulty knock sensor.
- Sensor not tightened correctly on the engine block.
- Faulty engine control module, less commonly.
Diagnosis and repair
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring, often under the intake manifold.
- Measure sensor resistance and wiring continuity.
- Check the sensor mounting torque.
- Replace the sensor if it is faulty.
- Clear the code and road test.
