P032B
PPowertrainKnock Sensor 3 Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1)
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP032B means the signal from knock sensor 3, bank 1 is out of the expected range or implausible. This sensor picks up the vibrations of abnormal combustion. If the control module considers its signal unreliable, it retards ignition as a precaution, which reduces performance.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- Loss of power.
- Higher fuel consumption.
- Possible pinging under heavy load.
Possible causes
- Faulty knock sensor 3.
- Sensor loose or dirty mounting surface.
- Damaged wiring or connector.
- Mechanical engine noise disturbing the reading.
- Faulty engine control module, less commonly.
Diagnosis and repair
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring.
- Check sensor mounting torque and contact surface.
- Measure sensor resistance and wiring continuity.
- Listen for abnormal mechanical engine noise.
- Replace the sensor if needed, then clear the code and road test.
