P0313
PPowertrainMisfire Detected With Low Fuel
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP0313 indicates that misfires were detected while the fuel level was low. When the tank is almost empty, the pump can draw air and fuel delivery becomes uneven, causing misfires. The control module stores this specific code to separate this case from a true ignition fault.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on or flashing.
- Hesitation and misfires, especially in corners or on slopes.
- Loss of power.
- Possible stalling with a nearly empty tank.
Possible causes
- Very low fuel level.
- Inaccurate fuel gauge.
- Weak fuel pump or clogged pump strainer.
- Restricted fuel filter.
- Worn ignition part showing up under lean fuel delivery.
Diagnosis and repair
- Refuel and check whether the misfires stop.
- Check that the fuel gauge matches the actual fuel quantity.
- Measure fuel supply pressure.
- Look for other misfire codes (P0300 to P0312) and check the ignition system.
- Clear the code and drive to confirm the fault is gone.
