What does this code mean?

P0379 means the engine control module sees no pulses on timing reference high resolution signal B, usually supplied by the crankshaft position sensor. This fine resolution signal lets the module measure engine rotation precisely. How it is used varies between makes, so the exact meaning depends on the manufacturer.
