What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP251D reports an open circuit in the power take-off (PTO) engine shutdown circuit. On commercial vehicles fitted with a PTO, this circuit lets the engine be shut down from the equipment or when a problem occurs. The module no longer detects the circuit, so this function is unavailable.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- Engine shutdown from the PTO equipment not working.
- PTO sometimes disabled.
- No symptom during normal driving.
Possible causes
- Broken wire between the PTO shutdown switch and the module.
- Unplugged or corroded connector, often on the body or equipment.
- Faulty PTO shutdown switch.
- Incorrect equipment wiring or modification.
- Faulty control module, less often.
