P0077
PPowertrainIntake Camshaft Timing Solenoid Circuit High (Bank 1)
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP0077 means the control module sees a voltage that is too high on the intake camshaft variable valve timing solenoid circuit, bank 1. This solenoid routes oil to the phaser to advance or retard valve opening. A faulty circuit prevents variable valve timing from working properly.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- Rough idle.
- Loss of power, especially at low revs.
- Higher fuel consumption.
Possible causes
- Faulty variable valve timing solenoid.
- Wiring shorted to voltage or open.
- Corroded solenoid connector.
- Faulty engine control module, less commonly.
Diagnosis and repair
- Inspect the solenoid connector and wiring.
- Measure coil resistance and compare with factory values.
- Check supply and control signal with a multimeter or scope.
- Check engine oil level and condition.
- Replace the solenoid if needed, then clear the code and road test.
