DPF Pressure Sensor A Range/Performance

What does this code mean?

Severity : Medium

P2453 indicates a range or performance problem with diesel particulate filter pressure sensor A. The electrical circuit works, but the reading is not plausible for the current engine operating conditions. The most common cause is a sensing hose that is blocked, split or incorrectly connected.

Symptoms

  • Check engine or DPF warning light on.
  • Regenerations too frequent or not happening.
  • Possible limp mode.
  • Loss of power if the filter clogs.

Possible causes

  • Sensor hoses blocked, split, melted or swapped.
  • Drifting differential pressure sensor.
  • Clogged or damaged DPF.
  • Exhaust leak near the pressure pick-up points.
  • Poor connector contact.

Diagnosis and repair

  • Inspect and clear the sensing hoses and ports, check their orientation.
  • Check that the reading is close to zero with the engine off.
  • Compare differential pressure at idle and at higher engine speed.
  • Replace the hoses or sensor if the reading remains implausible.
  • Clear the code and road test.
