P244A
PPowertrainDPF Differential Pressure Too Low (Bank 1)
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP244A indicates that the differential pressure measured across the bank 1 diesel particulate filter is too low. The ECU expects a certain pressure difference between the DPF inlet and outlet for a given exhaust flow. A reading that is too low points to a damaged filter, a disconnected hose or a faulty sensor.
Symptoms
- Check engine or DPF warning light on.
- Regenerations no longer triggering correctly.
- Possible black smoke from the exhaust.
- Limp mode on some vehicles.
Possible causes
- Differential pressure sensor hose disconnected, cracked or swapped.
- Faulty differential pressure sensor.
- Cracked or broken DPF.
- Exhaust leak between the engine and the filter.
- Damaged sensor connector or wiring.
Diagnosis and repair
- Inspect the sensor hoses for correct routing, orientation and sealing.
- Check the differential pressure sensor connector and wiring.
- Compare differential pressure in live data at idle and at higher engine speed.
- Replace the sensor or hoses, or the filter if it is damaged.
- Clear the code and confirm with a road test.
