P0713
PPowertrainTransmission Fluid Temperature Sensor A High
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP0713 indicates a high voltage on the transmission fluid temperature sensor A circuit. The transmission module uses this temperature to adjust line pressure and shift timing. A high voltage usually means an open circuit or a very low temperature reading.
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission light on.
- Harsh or delayed shifts.
- Delayed torque converter lock-up.
- Possible limp mode.
Possible causes
- Faulty transmission fluid temperature sensor.
- Broken wire or unplugged connector.
- Corroded or leaking transmission connector.
- Damaged internal transmission harness.
- Faulty transmission control module, less often.
Diagnosis and repair
- Check transmission fluid level and condition.
- Compare transmission temperature with engine temperature in live data.
- Inspect the transmission connector and measure sensor resistance with a multimeter.
- Replace the sensor or the internal harness involved.
- Clear the code and road test up to operating temperature.
