PPowertrainTransmission Range Sensor A Circuit Low
What does this code mean?
Severity : HighP0707 indicates low input on circuit A of the automatic transmission range sensor, also called the multifunction switch. This sensor tells the control module the gear selector position, P, R, N or D. With a signal that is too low, the position can no longer be recognised reliably.
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission light on.
- No start in some selector positions.
- Missing or wrong gear indication on the dashboard.
- Reversing lights not working.
- Transmission in limp mode.
Possible causes
- Faulty transmission range sensor.
- Sensor out of adjustment.
- Wiring shorted to ground.
- Connector corroded or contaminated by oil or water.
- Transmission control module fault, which is rare.
Diagnosis and repair
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring.
- Check the position reported in live data for each selector position.
- Check sensor and shift cable adjustment.
- Measure the signals with a multimeter using the manufacturer diagram.
- Adjust or replace the sensor, clear the code and road test.
