Secondary Air Flow/Pressure Sensor Circuit Low (Bank 1)

What does this code mean?

Severity : Low

P2432 means the control module sees a voltage that is too low on the secondary air injection flow or pressure sensor circuit, bank 1. The secondary air system pumps air into the exhaust on cold starts to heat the catalyst faster. This sensor confirms that air is actually flowing.

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on.
  • Usually no driving symptoms.
  • Possible emissions test failure.
  • Other secondary air codes stored.

Possible causes

  • Corroded or damaged sensor connector.
  • Signal shorted to ground.
  • Missing or low 5 V reference.
  • Faulty secondary air pressure sensor.
  • Moisture or condensation inside the sensor.

Diagnosis and repair

  • Inspect the sensor connector and wiring.
  • Measure the 5 V reference, ground and signal with a multimeter.
  • Compare the reading with atmospheric pressure with the engine off.
  • Replace the sensor if it is faulty.
  • Clear the code and perform a cold start to run the test again.
