P0122
PPowertrainThrottle/Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit Low
What does this code mean?
Severity : HighP0122 indicates low voltage on circuit A of the throttle or accelerator pedal position sensor. The engine control module uses this signal to know driver demand and throttle opening. A signal that is too low is treated as invalid and often puts the engine into limp mode.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- Limp mode with reduced power.
- Slow or no response to the accelerator.
- Rough idle or stalling.
Possible causes
- Faulty throttle or pedal position sensor.
- Wiring shorted to ground or open.
- Corroded or damaged connector.
- Missing 5 V reference supply.
- Dirty or faulty throttle body.
Diagnosis and repair
- Inspect the throttle body or pedal connector and wiring.
- Measure 5 V reference, ground and signal with a multimeter.
- Check that the signal changes smoothly in live data.
- Replace the sensor or throttle body if the signal is wrong.
- Clear the code, run a relearn if required, then road test.
