P2BA8
PPowertrainNOx Exceedance: AdBlue Dosing Interrupted
What does this code mean?
Severity : HighP2BA8 indicates that NOx emissions are too high because reductant (AdBlue/DEF) dosing has been interrupted. The control module monitors the SCR system and sees that reductant injection is no longer working properly. Depending on regulations, this can trigger a countdown that limits restarts or engine power.
Symptoms
- Check engine or AdBlue/DEF warning light on.
- Warning message with a distance countdown.
- Possible power or speed limitation.
- Engine restart eventually blocked if the fault persists.
Possible causes
- Empty tank or poor quality AdBlue/DEF.
- Clogged or crystallised dosing injector.
- Failing reductant pump or supply module.
- Frozen, pinched or leaking reductant line.
- Electrical fault on the pump or injector.
- NOx sensor reporting incorrect values.
Diagnosis and repair
- Check AdBlue/DEF level and quality with a refractometer.
- Read other SCR codes to pinpoint the faulty component.
- Inspect the injector, lines and pump, and clean any crystals.
- Run a dosing quantity test with a scan tool.
- Repair, clear codes and road test to confirm SCR efficiency.
