AdBlue Injector Circuit/Open (Bank 1)

What does this code mean?

Severity : Medium

P2047 indicates an open or electrical fault in the reductant injection valve circuit, the bank 1 AdBlue/DEF injector. This injector sprays AdBlue into the exhaust ahead of the SCR catalyst. The ECU detects a problem in its control circuit and can no longer dose AdBlue correctly.

Symptoms

  • AdBlue or check engine light on.
  • Warning message with a countdown before engine start is restricted.
  • Higher NOx emissions.
  • Possible power reduction depending on the vehicle.

Possible causes

  • AdBlue injector connector corroded or heat damaged.
  • Wiring broken or melted near the exhaust.
  • Faulty AdBlue injector winding.
  • Faulty fuse or power supply.
  • Less commonly, an ECU fault.

Diagnosis and repair

  • Inspect the injector connector and wiring, especially near hot areas.
  • Measure injector resistance and compare it to the manufacturer's values.
  • Check supply voltage and control signal at the connector.
  • Repair the wiring or replace the AdBlue injector.
  • Clear the code and run a dosing test with a diagnostic tool.
