P207F
PPowertrainReductant (AdBlue) Quality Performance
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP207F indicates a reductant quality problem, meaning the AdBlue/DEF quality is in question. The ECU assesses fluid quality either directly with a quality sensor in the tank, or indirectly through the efficiency measured by the NOx sensors. Diluted or contaminated AdBlue can no longer reduce nitrogen oxides properly.
Symptoms
- AdBlue or check engine light on.
- Warning message with a countdown before engine start is restricted.
- Higher NOx emissions.
- Often no drivability symptom.
Possible causes
- AdBlue diluted with water or contaminated with another fluid.
- Old AdBlue or fluid stored in poor conditions.
- Faulty AdBlue quality sensor.
- Faulty NOx sensor distorting the indirect check.
- Fouled AdBlue injector reducing dosing.
Diagnosis and repair
- Check AdBlue concentration with a refractometer.
- If contaminated, have the tank drained and flushed, then refill with ISO 22241 AdBlue.
- Check the quality sensor and NOx sensors in live data.
- Check AdBlue injector dosing with a diagnostic tool.
- Clear the code and road test to rerun the check.
