P20F5
PPowertrainReductant (AdBlue) Consumption Too High
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP20F5 indicates that reductant (AdBlue/DEF) consumption is too high. The control module compares the amount it commanded with the actual drop in tank level. A large difference suggests a leak, overdosing or a wrong level reading. If left unrepaired, engine start restrictions can follow.
Symptoms
- Check engine or AdBlue/DEF light on.
- Reductant tank emptying faster than usual.
- White crystal deposits under the vehicle.
- Possible countdown warning message.
Possible causes
- Leak at a reductant line, fitting or tank.
- Dosing injector leaking or stuck open.
- Faulty reductant level sensor.
- Faulty pump module.
- Reductant spilled or tank filled incorrectly.
Diagnosis and repair
- Look for crystals or leaks along the whole reductant circuit.
- Check the level sensor in live data after a known refill.
- Run a dosing quantity test with a scan tool.
- Replace the faulty injector, line or module.
- Clear the code and monitor consumption over several trips.
