P0C2F
PPowertrainHybrid Module Engine Speed Sensor Performance
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP0C2F applies to hybrid vehicles: the internal drive motor or generator control module detects a performance problem with the engine speed signal. The module compares combustion engine speed with electric machine speed. A mismatch can come from the speed sensor, the wiring or the module itself.
Symptoms
- Check engine or hybrid warning light on.
- Harsh or uneven engine starts.
- Reduced power or limp mode.
- Stop and start function disabled.
Possible causes
- Faulty or dirty engine speed sensor.
- Damaged sensor wiring or connector.
- Damaged sensor reluctor ring.
- Internal fault in the drive motor control module.
- Module software needing an update.
Diagnosis and repair
- Read codes from all modules, especially speed sensor codes.
- Inspect the sensor, its connector and wiring.
- Compare the speeds reported by each module in live data.
- Check whether a manufacturer software update is available.
- Replace the sensor or have the module diagnosed, then clear the code.
