P0A47
PPowertrainDrive Motor B Position Sensor Circuit Low
What does this code mean?
Severity : HighP0A47 applies to hybrid and electric vehicles: the control module sees a voltage that is too low on the position sensor circuit of drive motor "B". This sensor, often a resolver, reports rotor position so the motor can be driven precisely. Without a reliable signal, the system limits or shuts down electric drive.
Symptoms
- Check engine or hybrid system warning light on.
- Reduced power or limp mode.
- Vehicle will not go into ready mode.
- Jerking or unusual noises when pulling away.
Possible causes
- Corroded or loose position sensor connector.
- Wiring shorted to ground or damaged.
- Faulty position sensor (resolver).
- Fault in the drive motor control module or inverter.
Diagnosis and repair
- Read all hybrid system codes.
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring, following high voltage safety procedures.
- Measure resolver winding resistances and compare with factory values.
- Have a qualified high voltage workshop replace the sensor or module.
- Clear the code and verify operation on a test drive.
