What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumU0422 means a control module is receiving invalid data from the body control module (BCM). Communication exists, but the messages are implausible or out of range. Which data is affected depends on the manufacturer and on the module that stored the code.
Symptoms
- Various warning lights on the dashboard.
- Lighting, wipers or locking behaving oddly.
- Immobiliser related starting problems on some vehicles.
- Other network codes stored.
Possible causes
- Low or unstable battery voltage.
- Faulty or incorrectly programmed body control module.
- Sensor wired to the BCM sending a wrong value.
- Corroded or damaged connectors or CAN lines.
- Control module software needing an update.
Diagnosis and repair
- Check battery condition and charge.
- Read codes from every module, especially the BCM.
- Inspect the BCM connectors and grounds.
- Check whether a software update exists for the modules involved.
- Repair or replace the faulty module, then clear the codes and verify.
