PPowertrainSystem Too Lean Off Idle (Bank 1)
What does this code mean?
Severity : MediumP2177 means the air fuel mixture is too lean off idle on bank 1. The control module finds it has to add a lot of fuel, beyond its correction limit, when the engine is under load. This lack of fuel or excess unmetered air reduces performance.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- Lack of power or hesitation on acceleration.
- Possible misfires under load.
- Sometimes higher fuel consumption.
Possible causes
- Dirty or faulty mass airflow sensor.
- Vacuum leak after the airflow sensor.
- Low fuel pressure or clogged fuel filter.
- Dirty injectors.
- Exhaust leak ahead of the oxygen sensor.
Diagnosis and repair
- Review fuel trims at different engine speeds in live data.
- Look for vacuum leaks, with a smoke test if needed.
- Check the airflow sensor reading against the expected value.
