What does this code mean?
Severity : LowP0441 indicates incorrect purge flow in the evaporative emission (EVAP) system. Fuel vapours stored in the charcoal canister are drawn into the engine through the purge valve. The control module sees that the actual flow does not match what it commands.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on.
- Possible slight fuel smell.
- Rough idle in some cases.
- Occasional hard start after refuelling.
Possible causes
- Purge valve stuck open or closed.
- Cracked, disconnected or blocked purge hose.
- Saturated or damaged charcoal canister.
- Faulty EVAP pressure sensor.
- Wiring fault on the purge valve.
Diagnosis and repair
- Inspect EVAP hoses between the canister, purge valve and intake.
- Test the purge valve: command, sealing and resistance with a multimeter.
- Perform a smoke test to find leaks.
- Replace the faulty valve or hose.
- Clear the code and let the vehicle complete its EVAP self-test.
